It's time to enter for the Gulbenkian Youth Awards 2000, which are presented to individuals or groups who have made an outstanding contribution to co-operation and understanding in their local community. Entries must be in before the end of this month. Awards will be made in three age groups: 11 and under; 12 to 18 years old and 19 to 24 years old. Nominations can be made by students themselves, teachers and youth workers.
The aims of the competition include increasing co-operation, respect and understanding, contributing to the quality of life in the wider world and improving the quality of the physical environment.
There will be gold, silver and bronze awards in each category. Prizes for the winning groups will be to the value of £250, £150 and £75 and, for individuals, £50, £35 and £25, respectively.
