A survey carried out by NUI Galway shows that of 2,425 graduates/ postgraduates conferred there last year only 37 (or 1.8 per cent) were unemployed six months after graduation. In l998 some 1,234 graduates (or 60 per cent) were found to be unemployed - this year's figure of 1.8 per cent is the lowest ever recorded for the college.
