Castleknock Educate Together National School, Navan Road, Dublin opened in September l999 - too late to qualify for the infant, library or science grants made to other schools. Principal Dermot Higgins says that "our children are operating without the funding from which other children are benefitting". As a result of their experiences he says that the Castleknock school endorses a recent proposal for a set-up grant for new schools. Such a grant would, he believes, "put all children of our nation on an equal footing and prevent one group of children being disciminated against."
