North-bound traffic on the East Link toll bridge is heavy this evening said AA Road Watch, although the West Link is not affected by the ongoing workers' strike.
Both bridges will be lifted tonight from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m, with the strike action continuing tomorrow morning.

Earlier today the picket at the East Link bridge was interrupted briefly when the bridge was lifted to let the

leave Dublin port.
Parents of children who were on the ship persuaded striking workers to lift the bridge for 15 minutes to allow the historic boat pass through.
Over 100 workers at the East and West Link toll bridges, who are members of SIPTU, have been picketing this weekover pay and the length of their working week.
Earlier this week SIPTU rejected the National Toll Road’s claim that it had offered employees a 14 per cent pay increase.
SIPTU claimed the offer was notional and would be offset by a reduction in hours from 41 to 37.5 per week. The union also said another 2 per cent was due to employees under the Review Clause of the PPF.
