Republic of Ireland winger Damien Duff returns to the Blackburn squad for the trip to Sunderland after missing two games with back and hamstring problems.

There were fears that Duff might be ruled out until the end of the month but manager Graeme Souness said: "He will definitely be in the team at some stage tomorrow.

"Damien's season has been stop-start but hopefully he can keep his fitness now because he gives us something different. He is a real threat."

However Rovers, seeking to extend an unbeaten league and Cup run to eight matches, will be without midfield man David Dunn.

Dunn, who limped out of Tuesday's 1-1 Worthington Cup semi-final draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford with a calf injury, has had a scan and is likely to be out for a couple of weeks. The scan revealed a tear in his calf and he will be out for a while.
