Dublin taxi-driver killed in crash with stolen car

A taxi-driver was killed and three teenagers were injured in two-car crash in Dublin early this morning.

A taxi-driver was killed and three teenagers were injured in two-car crash in Dublin early this morning.

The incident happened at the junction of the North Circular Road and Summerhillshortly before 4.00 a.m.

One of the three injured youths is in a critical condition in St James's Hospital. The other two are recovering in the Mater Hospital.Gardai said they were travelling in a stolen car. The car is understood to have rammed a number of garda patrol cars which were trying to halt it before it slammed into the taxi.

The dead man, who has been named as Mr Robert McGowan (30), of Galtymore Road, Drimnagh, Dublin 12,was alone in his taxi at the time of the crash.
