A number of south Dublin areas were hit by floods early this morning and further rain and high winds are forecast until later today.

The areas worst affected were the Cheeverstown Road and the N81 at Killinarden in Tallaght, the Tallaght bypass, Patrick Street, the Old Dun Laoghaire Road, More hampton Road, Cuffe Street, Upper Leeson Street and stretches of the M11 and the N11.

The Met Office has warned that heavy rain and winds may cause flooding in other areas of the country today and the Gardai have advised motorists to drive with care.
