Dublin Airport is now operating "as normal" with only a "minor impact" on passengers following an incident on the main runway this morning, the Dublin Airport Authority has said.
Five flights that were diverted to Shannon airport were returning to Dublin. The flights were diverted after the main runway at Dublin Airport was closed following an incident involving a small aircraft.
No one was injured in the incident but operations on the runway were suspended while the aircraft blocked the runway.
The Metroliner aircraft was on a cargo flight at the time. It is understood the aircraft had two people on board when it encountered difficulties with its front nosewheel which became disabled as it landed on the main runway.
In a series of tweets, a spokesman for the Dublin Airport Authority said the airport's crosswind runway, which had earlier been closed due to poor weather conditions, had opened and flights were being diverted there.
The spokesman said passengers are advised to arrive at the airport in time.
