Drogheda assault victim 'stable' in hospital

A man seriously assaulted in Drogheda, Co Louth, last night is in "stable" condition in hospital today.

A man seriously assaulted in Drogheda, Co Louth, last night is in "stable" condition in hospital today.

The eastern European man suffered serious head injuries in the attack at around 10pm in Dominick's Park in the town. It is believed he was attacked by a group of men.

Gardaí were alerted to the man's condition by a passer-by, and he was then taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

Gardaí say that no formal complaint has yet been received and that any investigation will begin if and when such a step is made.
