Gardai are to send a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions on a fracas in Cobh Garda station at the weekend in which three officers received injuries, and further charges may follow, a court heard yesterday.

Supt Pat Sheahan told Midleton District Court gardai were seeking an adjournment in the case of four teenagers charged in connection with the fracas so that a file could be sent to the DPP.

The three officers injured during the disturbance were still out sick, he said.

Leaving Cert student Stephen Koopman (17), Leeview Court, Cobh, denies assaulting Garda Bryan Larkin, Garda Donnacha Riordan and Garda Tim Desmond and threatening to kill Garda Larkin last Saturday.

Apprentice carpenters Mr Patrick Kelly (18), Albert Terrace, Cobh, and Mr James Kelly (18), Russell Heights, Cobh, are both charged with assaulting Garda Riordan and with causing criminal damage to a hatch and computer at the station.

A fourth youth, Mr Peter Stoat (18), a student from Sandy mount, Cobh, is also charged with causing criminal damage to the hatch and computer on the same occasion.

Judge Michael Pattwell adjourned the case against all four until October 25th. He remanded them on continuing bail terms, including an order to remain at home between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
