GAA:Ambrose Rogers is a doubt for Down's All-Ireland SFC semi-final date with Kildare later this month after picking up a knee injury during a club match last weekend.
Rogers sustained the injury in Longstone’s win over Leitrim in the Down Senior Football Championship.
“The full extent of the injury is not yet known,” read a brief statement from the county today. “Ambrose is to go for a scan on the knee in the coming days, the result of which should be known by the end of this week/early next week.”
Down, who defeated All-Ireland champions Kerry in the quarter-final, will take on Kildare at Croke Park on Sunday, August 29th.
Kildare are waiting on the injury update for Dermot Earley after he limped off in the early stages of their quarter-final win over Meath.
Earley's has been making good progress since and Lilywhites manager Kieran McGeeney is hopeful he will be fit for the semi-final.
Elsewhere James Kavanagh (Kildare) and Michael Walsh (Waterford) picked up respective GPA football and hurling player of the month awards for July.
Kavanagh was picked out for his performances in Kildare’s qualifier campaign during, particularly the win over Monaghan to secure the quarter-final berth.
Walsh put in starring role during Waterford’s draw against Cork in the Munster final and again in the replay win to secure a semi-final date with Tipperary next Sunday (15th).
