The Irish College of General Practitioners has advised five categories of people to get themselves vaccinated against Streptococcal Pneumonia, a potentially fatal bacterial infection. These are: people over 65; patients with heart disease, respiratory disease and diabetes; patients who have had or are undergoing treatment for cancer; patients who had their spleens removed; and patients who have Hepatitis B or C or who are HIV Positive.
