London - The family of an 11-month-old baby who doctors believe may have contracted the human form of mad cow disease from her mother are desperate for proof of her condition, they said last night.

Experts have examined the girl and report that she is showing symptoms of Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease, the illness which claimed her mother earlier this year. It would be the first proof that CJD can be transmitted from mother to child.
