Cape Canaveral - Today is docking day for the space shuttle Discovery as the seven-astronaut crew prepares for arrival at the International Space Station to deliver two new segments to the $60 billion science project.
Since its launch on Wednesday, Discovery commander Brian Duffy and pilot Pam Melroy have periodically fired the shuttle rockets to bring it into the same orbit as the space station.
Duffy will approach the station from behind, flying about 150 metres below it. Then he will execute a slow semicircle around the station and dock with it from above.
