Three RUC officers were injured during disturbances at the annual Apprentice Boys parade in Derry on Saturday. Held to commemorate the 312th anniversary of the shutting of the Gates of Derry, it was coming to an end when members of one of the last bands taking part, the South Belfast Young Conquerors, became involved in a violent confrontation with a group of about 30 nationalist youths. The band ignored police requests to move out of the area. When police officers forcibly started to remove the bandsmen from Ferry quay Street, several of them were attacked by the bandsmen.
