Cape Canaveral - The US space shuttle Discovery touched down safely in Florida last night, ending a successful eight-day mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope.
The shuttle touched down moments after midnight Irish time at the Kennedy Space Centre after NASA managers decided to keep it in space for an extra orbit while they watched the weather at the landing site.
