Jakarta President Abdurrahman Wahid of Indonesia said that he has ordered the military, police and intelligence chiefs to disarm all private armed guards of former president Suharto.

Meanwhile the youngest son of Gen Suharto was questioned and released smiling by Jakarta police on Saturday, one day after President Wahid ordered him arrested for his suspected role in recent bombings.

The US Defense Secretary, Mr William Cohen, arrived in Jakarta to confront Indonesian leaders with US demands that they disarm and disband the militias that killed three UN workers in West Timor.
