IBEC's audio-visual federation said it was disappointed its recommendations to increase the proportion of film expenditure eligible for tax relief to 100 per cent from 80 per cent were ignored. Mr Tommy McCabe, the federation's director, said the improvement in Britain's tax regime and funding from the UK lottery "had improved the attractiveness of making films and TV programmes there compared to Ireland".
