A statement from owners Coolmore Stud read: "Epsom Derby winner Pour Moi suffered a severe overreach to his near fore fetlock during exercise at Chantilly on Friday morning. He will not race again and will retire to Coolmore for the 2012 breeding season."

Andre Fabre's charge had been favourite for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe but was a huge drifter on the exchanges on Saturday morning.

He had touched 100-1 on Betfair by lunchtime and been removed by most fixed-odds firms in their betting for the Longchamp showpiece when confirmation of the setback came through.

The son of Montjeu was a remarkable winner of the Epsom Classic, coming from last-to-first under Mickael Barzalona.
