The Irish Dental Association has confirmed it has written to the Minister for Social and Family Affairs, Ms Coughlan, offering to participate in new talks on the dental fees row for PRSI workers.

The association's secretary general, Mr Donal Atkins, said the offer was "aimed at devising new arrangements" for the treatment of insured workers. While dentists are required to give insured workers the same standard of treatment as private patients, the association had claimed this was no longer possible as Department payment rates had not kept pace with health inflation.
