THE Cork Examiner, Quidnunc has been informed, is shortly to drop Cork from its title and will henceforth be known as the Examiner. Fans and employees of de paper, as it affectionately known south of Dublin, have always argued that is a national and this move would confirm that opinion. Those less enamoured of the de paper call it a provincial. Others settle for regional. It sells 54,000 copies daily, mostly in Munster, and has put on a healthy 2,000 in the last two years under the editorship of Brian Looney.
