The County Wexford Board of Health and Public Assistance have experienced considerable difficulty in getting a suitable cook for their new County Hospital in Wexford. In reply to their latest advertisement the Board received several applications at their meeting last Monday, among them being one addressed from "Hardship place," Wexford, signed "Nota Mugg."

In her summary of "qualifications" the applicant stated that she was thirty years of age, was educated in a reformatory, and was a corporate member of the institute of cooks and dairymaids, a member of the forlorn bakers' institute and of the defunct spinsters' association.

A "testimonial" from a prison governor praised her organising ability, and stated that she had "a ladylike manner." Another "testimonial" from an inebriates' home matron, stated that "she had a quiet disposition, having assaulted only of the staff, two of whom are still living."
