Lindsay Davenport of the United States powered into the third round of the French Open today with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Uzbekistan's Iroda Tulyaganova.

Davenport - making her first appearance at the tournament in three years - started strongly to break serve and lead 3-2, but Tulyaganova hit back to level at 3-3.

The American sixth seed had to save three set points before pulling back to 5-5 and then went on to take the set 7-5.

The second set, however, was all one-way traffic.

Davenport will meet either Gala Leon Garcia of Spain or France's Nathalie Dechy in the next round.
