NICOSIA - The British Foreign Secretary, Mr Malcolm Rifkind, who arrived in Cyprus on a new diplomatic initiative, was confronted by Greek Cypriot protesters bearing photographs of relatives they said had disappeared after Turkish troops invaded Cyprus in 1974.

Mr Rifkind, who hopes to have talks with President Glafcos Clerides and the Turkish Cypriot leader, Mr Rauf Denktash, is the first British Foreign Secretary to visit Cyprus for 30 years.
