Customs officers have seized a ship and a consignment of cigarettes in Co Wexford.
The ship, worth €10 million, and the 300,000 cigarettes arrived in New Ross from the Polish port of Gdansk on Sunday.
The potential loss of revenue to the State from the black market sale of the cigarettes would have amounted to almost €70,000.
The captain and crew of the ship are being questioned and investigations are continuing, a Revenue statement said.
