Cardenas - Cuba's most famous boy, Elian Gonzalez (above), restarted classes yesterday, nine months after the sea-voyage that sparked his custody dispute.

"The boy is very happy, and me too, because he's going back to school," the six-year-old's father, Mr Juan Miguel Gonzalez, said as he accompanied the boy to the Marcelo Salado school in their coastal hometown, Cardenas, for the start of the school year.
