Electricity safety advertisements currently running on television are the product of a cross-border initiative between the ESB and Northern Ireland Electricity.

The nine advertisements, which have been running since 1996 on RTE and UTV, are designed to "pool the resources, expertise and experience of both utilities", according to an ESB spokesperson.

The advertisements warn of the dangers of overhead lines and transformers and give advice on working safely with electricity at work, on farms and in the home.
