Young man kidnapped at gunpoint while trying to sell car

A young man was kidnapped at gunpoint in Co Louth and held for a number of hours yesterday by men purporting to buy his car.

The 18-year-old arranged to meet a man at Newtownstalaban, Drogheda to sell the vehicle but when he arrived was confronted by two masked men, one of whom was armed with a gun.

The teenager was taken to a disused farmhouse where he was held for a number of hours before he was taken to his own house where members of his family were assaulted and the property was ransacked and robbed.

The masked men left in the teenager’s car which was found burnt out a short time later.
