Former taoiseach Bertie Ahern has settled, for an undisclosed sum, a €38,000 damages claim taken by a woman who fell in his constituency office.
Barrister Lisa Kelly, counsel for Mr Ahern, whose address was given as St Luke's, Drumcondra, Dublin, told the Circuit Civil Court today the case had been settled.
Marie Therese O'Loughlin, of Eagle Lodge Apartments, Leinster Road West, Dublin 6, had sued Mr Ahern by name for injuries she suffered in a trip and fall in St Luke's on December 19th, 2007.
Ms O’Loughlin claimed she had fallen in a hallway and had suffered “personal injuries and loss”.
No details of physical injuries were outlined to the court.
Ms Kelly told Judge Alan Mahon in the Circuit Civil Court that she appeared for Mr Ahern, who had settled the case, which could be struck out with an order for Ms O’Loughlin’s legal costs.
Judge Mahon struck out the case and directed that legal costs be taxed in default of agreement.
