Gardai have appealed for witnesses after a woman was killed in a Co Wexford head-on road collision.

The woman (48)was driving a car which collided with a 4x4 vehicle on the R772 road between Gorey and Clough at about 10.30am. She was taken by air ambulance to hospital in Tallaght where she was later pronounced dead.

A man in his 40s who was driving the second vehicle received minor injuries, a Garda spokesman said.

The road has been examined by forensic collision invesigators and has reopened.
