A woman has received emergency medical attention after being stabbed in the back of the head in Longford.

The incident took place on Main Street, Longford at about 4pm on Wednesday.

The victim, aged in her thirties, was rushed to hospital but her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

No arrests were made but gardaí say they are following a number of lines of inquiry.
