Woman arrested in connection with fatal Ballyfermot shooting

Michael Tormey was shot several times after apparently answering his front door

A woman in her early 30s has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Ballyfermot, Dublin.

Michael Tormey (49), a married father, with no known links to crime, was shot dead at his home on Thomond Road, Ballyfermot, just after 4.30am on Sunday, January 9th.

He had been out socialising in a pub and after it closed he went on to a social gathering with family members and friends into Sunday morning.

He returned to his home, with his wife, at about 3.30am and about an hour later it appears he went to the front door to answer to a caller. He was shot dead at the doorway. He was wounded several times in the upper body by his killer, who used a handgun.
