A small viable explosive device which was discovered at a house in Armagh this morning is being investigated by police.

At about 4am, residents were moved from their homes at in the Alexander Avenue area of the town after a suspicious device was discovered.

A bomb disposal team examined the object and declared it a “small viable device”, the PSNI said today.

The team has removed the device from the scene for further examination and residents have been allowed back to their homes, a PSNI spokesman said.

Police have appealed for anyone with information on the incident to contact them.
