Two teenagers held after Limerick city weapons find

Gun, bullet, iron bar and baseball bat recovered after gang flees

Two men are being questioned by gardaí today after a weapons find in Limerick.

Gardaí arrested the two, who are in their late teens, after a group of youths fled from officers on patrol inMcDonough Avenue in the Janesboro area of the city yesterday afternoon.

A gun, one bullet, an iron bar, a baseball bat and number of other items were seized.

The two suspects are being held under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939, at Roxboro Road Garda station.

They can be detained for up to 72 hours.

A Garda spokesman said the investigation is ongoing.
