Two teenagers due in court over Galway stabbing

Two teenagers were due to appear at Galway District Court this morning over a stabbing at the weekend.

The two were arrested in Galway city. Gardaí­ in Salthill are investigating the incident, which happened in the early hours of Saturday but was only reported ­that night.

An 18-year-old man was taken to Galway University Hospital with stab wounds. He is reported to be in serious condition.

The stabbing occurred in a laneway beside Knocknacarra Church in Salthill at 3am on Saturday.

Two teenagers aged 18 and 16 were questioned at Mill Street Garda Station under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.

They were due to appear before Galway District Court at 10.30am this morning.
