Two men in their 50s were arrested near Mallow in Co Cork yesterday after gardai found mephedrone with an estimated street value of up to €42,000.
The drugs were found when a car was stopped at Rathcoole shortly before midday yesterday.
Both men were released without charge late last night and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
