Two men held over 2007 Limerick murder

Arrests relate to fatal beating of Jeffrey Hannon (19) with an axe handle

Two men have been arrested over the murder of a Limerick teeenager over seven years ago.

Jeffrey Hannon (19), from O'Malley Park, Southill, Limerick, was beaten to death with an axe handle and left in a field next to his parents' house on November 22nd, 2007.

More than 20 people have been arrested over the killing, but no one has been charged.

On Tuesday morning, gardaí raided two houses in Limerick city made the arrests.

One man in his 40s is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Roxboro Road Garda Station. The second male, aged in his late 20s, is being held under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939, at Henry St. Garda Station.

They can be held for up to 24 hours without charge.
