Two men arrested after seizure of firearms, silencers and heroin in Tallaght

Three residential properties searched

Two men in their 20s have been arrested after a number of firearms and €70,000 worth of heroin and other drugs were seized in Tallaght in Dublin on Saturday.

Gardaí searched three residential properties in the area at 7.30am this morning which resulted in the discovery of four firearms along with silencers and ammunition.

Approximately €70,000 worth of suspected heroin as well as small quantities of crack cocaine and cannabis were also seized.

Two men, aged in their late 20s, were arrested at the scene and are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939 in Tallaght Garda station.

The seizure was part of An Garda Síochána's national anti-drugs strategy, Operation Tara, which aims to disrupt drug trafficking networks involved in the sale, supply and distribution of controlled drugs at local, national and international level.
