Two men arrested after machete murder in Meath

Gardai investigating the murder of a man last week have arrested two suspects for questioning.

Christopher Nevin, a 27-year-old married man, was fatally assaulted in Navan, Co Meath, last Thursday afternoon.

Gardai believe a machete was used during the attack that took his life.

Two men were seen at the scene of the incident on Tailtean Rd, Winetown, and got into a silver car which was then driven off in the direction of Navan town.

Mr Nevin was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, but died from his injuries.

Gardai had appealed for anyone who was at or near the scene when the attack occurred at about 2.15pm to come forward.

The murder investigation has continued in recent days and two men in their 20s were being held for questioning on Monday night.

They were arrested on Monday afternoon and taken to Navan Garda station where they were being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
