Two in court over murder of Piotr Nowakowski in Ennis

Victim was stabbed at an apartment in the town yesterday morning

A 39-year old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Polish national, Piotr Nowakowski in Ennis yesterday morning.

Michael Maughan of 20 Stone Court, Ennis, was charged with the murder of 31-year old Mr Nowakowski at 15 Sandfield Mews in the town.

Mr Nowakowski died in an ambulance en route to hospital after sustaining two stab wounds in the alleged attack.

In court today, Mr Maughan’s younger brother Darren (21) also of 20 Stone Court, Ennis was charged with the assault causing harm of Declan O’Dea at the same apartment.

Both men were remanded in custody to appear in court in Ennis on Friday.
