Two men have been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after the death of a pedestrian in Belfast.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after the death of a pedestrian in Belfast.

The 18-year-old victim was hit by a white Renault van near the Elms student village on the Malone Road in South Belfast.

One man, aged 19, was detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

Another, aged 29, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, according to the PSNI.

Both men remain in custody helping officers with their inquiries.

Two occupants of the van were treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries after the crash, police said.
