Two foreign fishing vessels detained by Naval Service

Boats detained off Cork and Clare for alleged breaches of fishing regulations

Two foreign fishing vessels have been detained off the Irish coast today for alleged breaches of fishing regulations.

The Naval Service vessel L.É. ASHLING detained a Spanish registered boat 80 nautical miles south of Balitimore Bay in Co Cork this afternoon.

A French registered fishing boat was detained by the L.É. EITHNE about 120 nautical miles west of Clare this evening.

Both vessels were escorted to Castletownbere, where they will be handed over to gardaí.

They are the ninth and tenth vessels to be detained by the Naval Service so far this year.
