Gardaí investigating a serious assault on a man on Edward Street in Limerick city yesterday have arrested a third person.

The male juvenile was arrested this evening and is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Roxboro Road Garda station.

This brings to three the number of people in Garda custody in relation to this investigation.The injured man remains in a serious condition at University College Hospital Cork.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and in particular to anybody in the vicinity of Edward Street between 3pm and 3.30pm yesterday to contact them.

They are also appealing for information on any sightings of a light green coloured saloon car with a partial registration number 10 KY in the area of Edward Street around the time of the incident to contact the incident room at Roxboro Road Garda Station.
