A teenaged boy has been arrested and two firearms recovered following an incident in Dublin this morning.

A garda search operation was mounted at 9.30am following reports of a disturbance involving an armed youth at a house in Kilmainham.

The youth had left the scene by the time gardaí arrived. No injuries were reported.

The search operation involved local Garda units, the armed emergency response unit (ERU), the dog unit and the air support unit.

Two firearms were recovered and the teenager was later arrested in the Inchicore area.

He is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939 at Kevin Street Garda Station.
