A firearm was seized and a man in his 30s arrested after a search operation in Co Tipperary early this morning.
Members of the Garda's Regional Support Unit and local units responding to a report of suspicious activity searched a van in Fethard soon after midnight.
During a search they recovered a loaded shotgun and a knife.
The man in his 30s was arrested and is being detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939 at Clonmel Garda station.
Inquiries are ongoing.
