The front window of a house has been smashed in a pipe bomb attack which police have said was a suspected sectarian hate crime.
The explosion occurred at a home in the Lincoln Court area of Co Derry on Saturday night at about 10.10pm.
A woman in her twenties was in the house at the time but was not physically injured.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland said it is believed the pipe bomb was left on a windowsill.
Five homes in the area were evacuated while bomb disposal teams examined the remnants of the explosive and declared the street safe.
Detective Inspector Stewart said: “We are lucky that no one was injured by this device, or by the window smashing. This is being treated as a sectarian hate crime.”
Police appealed for anyone with information to contact detectives at Strand Road police station on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
