A man has appeared at a special sitting of Killorglin District Court this morning charged with arson over a petrol bomb attack on the Killarney Garda station.

Judge James O’ Connor remanded the man on bail under strict conditions according to informed sources and he is due to appear again before Tralee District Court on Thursday next.

It is understood the man is from Killarney and in his twenties.

He was arrested after allegedly throwing an ignited container of petrol at the wall of the Garda station early yesterday, causing a small fire.

Gardai put out the fire and there were no injuries.

No further details available at this point as the media were not present at the special court sitting as they were not informed.

The man was represented by a solicitor in court. The Garda press office in Dublin say they were not informed of the special sitting and so could not notify the press.
