Gardaí are investigating a suspected petrol bomb attack on Ennis courthouse early today.

The alarm was activated on the courthouse at about 3.45am. The keyholder arrived and found a rear window on the building smashed and smoke coming from inside.

Gardaí and the fire brigade were called to the scene. There was minimal damage done to the building.

Initial investigations show the cause of the fire to be a bottle of flammable liquid which was likely thrown into the building.

Gardaí in Ennis have not made any arrests but are continuing their investigations.
