A 37-year-old man has had part of his ear bitten off during an assault in Co Down.

The attack happened at Sullivan Place in Holywood yesterday morning.

A 44-year-old man was arrested but has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesman appealed for any witnesses to contact the incident team in Bangor.

Meanwhile, police are investigating a petrol bomb attack at a house in Co Antrim. No one was injured when the property at Orkney Drive, Ballymena was targeted during the early hours of this morning.

Fire crews and police were called to scene at about 4am. It is understood a device bounced off a front window and ignited on the ground.

Several items were removed for forensic examination.
