Seven males and two females were arrested this morning as part of Operation Laidir, which was set up to target burglaries in the southeast.

A total of 14 premises were searched as part of the operation, carried out by gardaí from Meath, Kilkenny, Carlow and Thomastown, and the Organised Crime Unit. Four vehicles and other items were confiscated.

Three of those arrested are being detained in Carlow, three in Kilkenny and three in Thomastown. Ranging in age from juvenile to their mid-50s, they are being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
